Arikana Chihombori-Quao is a medical doctor and a public speaker who is best known for her advocacy work on behalf of the people of Africa. Born in Zimbabwe in 1958, she moved to the United States in 1977 to attend Fisk University, a Historically Black College in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduating from Fisk, Dr. Chihombori-Quao went on to earn a degree in medicine from Meharry Medical College, also in Nashville.
In 2017, Dr. Chihombori-Quao was appointed as the African Union (AU) Ambassador to the United States by the Chairperson of the AU. In her role as ambassador, she focused on issues related to the development and empowerment of Africa and worked to build relationships between the AU and other world governments and organizations.
Dr. Chihombori-Quao is also the founder and CEO of the Africa Diaspora Development Institute, an organization that seeks to mobilize the African diaspora to invest in and develop the continent of Africa. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and events around the world and is a vocal advocate for the economic and political empowerment of Africa.
